Mail, Packages, and Flowers
Any deliveries will be brought directly to your room. Mail received after discharge will be forwarded to your home. Please give any outgoing mail to your nurse.
Personal Items
During your stay, you will need to bring several items with you, including a comb, cosmetics, deodorant, bathrobe, slippers (without heels), a shaving kit, toothbrush, toothpaste, and other supplies and sundries. If you forget anything, our gift shop offers a variety of items that you may need. Unless it is necessary for you to wear a hospital gown, you can wear your own pajamas or nightgown. Please bring your insurance cards, but cash and jewelry are discouraged. You may also want a small, battery-operated radio. Please note, the hospital assumes no responsibility for lost or misplaced items during your stay.
Telephones
For your convenience, a telephone is provided in each room as a complimentary amenity. The telephone will allow you to receive incoming telephone calls from outside the Hospital and to dial anywhere within the state of New Jersey without charge.

- All other NJ area codes and Toll-Free, Dial 9 + 1 + Area Code + Number
- All Interstate Calls, Dial 9 and follow instructions on your calling card or prepaid telephone card.

Bayshore has TTY, a telephone teletype writer for the hearing impaired. For information, ask your nurse.
Cellular Phones
While cell phone use is permitted, for the comfort of our patients at Bayshore Medical Center, we ask that usage be limited to lobby areas, the cafeteria, and outside the Medical Center. Please refrain from using cell phones in patient rooms, waiting areas, elevators, and other areas that might disrupt other patients.
Television
To initiate television service, push the nurse call button and ask to have your television turned on. This service is available to you 24 hours a day.
Your television is easy to use. Controls are either on the handset, bedrail, or in the case of personal televisions, suspended over the bed, right on the set. Television service includes Comcast Cable and area programming. For your convenience, you can pay for TV service at the time of admission, or on a daily basis. At time of admission you can pay using your VISA, MasterCard, American Express, personal check or cash. Any money not used will be automatically refunded either at the time you are discharged or mailed to your home. The other alternative is to pay the TV representative on a daily basis. You can also take advantage of our convenient payment box for daily payments, located in the main lobby at the information desk. All payments deposited in this box will receive a paid receipt within 24 hours. For your own safety, please take note of the television representative’s I.D. badge before making payment. If you wish to cancel television service at any time,
please dial extension 5979 and leave a message, or leave a message on the TV set.
The hospital encourages you to turn off your television by midnight. Should you want to view your television past midnight, please lower your pillow speaker. For 9” TV sets only, earphones may be obtained from the TV representative.
Channel 8 is your connection to Bayshore’s Interfaith Memorial Chapel and offers soft music and some scheduled programming. Bayshore’s free patient education channel, features health programming in the comfort and privacy of your own room and can be viewed on your individual bedside television. Patient education video topics include: Bioethics Issues, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Pain Management, Safety and Fall Prevention, Medication Safety, Respiratory Conditions, Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes.
WiFi / Internet Access
WiFi is available throughout the Hospital, and guests are able to access this service via a personal computer. Please note this is a public wireless access system and should not be used to transmit or access secure information. In addition, you will find certain Web sites are blocked by the Hospital for policy reasons.
